If you are into e-mail marketing, you better read this!
http://www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.html (http://www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.html)
Do they think they get any to read all that? :o
It's a bit much, but not that much when concidering how important
it is to follow these rules. If you have a bussiness and don't follow
these rules you will get out of business before you know it.
Laws are always written in a very formal and boring language,
maybe someone has written a review :P
Yes they are...
It´s just like "Oh no.. do i really need to read this? "

That is why we have the discussion going in the folder, Spam! Do You Really Understand? I realise most people are not going to read all that, it is very dry and boring. ;)
However do you understand what the law is. We all are governed by these laws, they may vary some but they are international in scope. There are people finding out the hard way that these laws have teeth. You can end up being blacklisted, but worse is that you can be forced to pay heavy fines and serve 2 to 5 years in prison for those offenses alone. They reserve the right to add additional charges if they deem necessary.
If there is any questions, ask them in the forum on this topic, we'll get your questions answered and help you to avoid these kinds of problems. :)
In other words I or the other mods will do the reading for you, this is a very important topic.

I have actually never used email marketing. I never wanted to risk doing something wrong. Even so I have read over some of tne new law and it is quite interesting. Yes I actually like to read and will read just about anything.
I never really thought about losses that result from spam mail. It was brought to my attention through reading through some of the text about this law. I also saw that if convicted, a business would have to give up any property, money, etc that was obtained through the emails they were ccnvicted for. (If I understood that correctly)

I so miss freedom of speach!!!!
Yes spam is anoying at times but really it shouldn't be something that anyone goes to jail. What a waist of tax payers money.
It is unconstutitional.
It's not a waste of tax payers money.
Businesses are loosing crazy amounts of money because their employees have to dig through tons of spam, and their servers are also going to process all this junk. It is the consumers that will have to cover the costs in the end.
I don't dare to imagine how much spam would be flowing into my inbox if spamming was legal.

Spaming is legal in that the laws are unconstitutional.
I know it can be a waist of time.
I even get spam at my work e-mail which I never give out.
Spam is free speach.
I don't spam because it is so annoying.
And it is better then people sending direct mail as that harms the environment more.

I do not think people should go to jail for SPAM, however there should be penatlies, I believe. Everyone has the right to free speech and many other freedoms. But it is important to remember that one's freedoms should not infringe deeply on those of others.
I think I and anyone else has a right to say, we do not want unsolicited email.
