Hello

Me i use Paypal, because a lot of PTR (all ?) use it.
But i like Moneybookers too. Because it is European :P . In France, we call this : "ĂȘtre chauvin". In english, ... i don't know the translation....

Egold, no, because some people's account have been hacked. Not good.

And i like you site. I know GPF, but yours, is, how i can say... différent and so cool.

Thanks for that

Allan

hrcls Im so sorry to hear that !!! :(
I have often heard of e-gold being hacked..its a grave concern
Thats truely awful you lost so much money..Id be very upset if it was me.

Allen thanks for the wonderful compliment from all of the D4A team :)

Paypal does seem to be prefered on alot of sites however my concern is I have heard they can freeze your account very easily. As a member of curently 143 sites (yeah I love em LOL) I am quite worried paypal will freeze mine if they all pay me by this method. (I chose them as I can transfer the funds straight to my bank and have them exchanged to AUD). Have you heard of this occuring in your experience to members? I ask as you have experience in this as a PO. Thanks.

(edited to add) :
Moneybookers I have heard of but not checked them out..can they link to a bank account like paypal can? Being in Australiaits hard to choose whats beeter by the time you have to transfer money then convert US to AUD and take all the fees out.

Anyone at all that reads this thread with experience with moneybookers Id apreciate any advice. Thanks.

Allan,

I think this is where all the translators in the world won't get a phrase correct - the literal translation is "it is chauvanistic"...

but it's more likely to mean "buy/use own country goods"

On a broader note, this debate raises the issue of how do you exchange from one currency to another... Do you leave funds in situ? or Do you use broker services to get to your preferred currency?

Would there be any value in having a broker's forum here, for instance?

Hello

About MoneyBookers :

This is some imlportant informations to use Moneybookers :

1.- Use your Credit Card to found your acount :

"How can I use a credit card to fund my Moneybookers account?
Step 1: Add your credit card to your account profile:
=======================================================================
Go to: 'Account' > 'profile' > 'List of Credit cards' > 'Manage' > 'Add' > fill in the required information.
=======================================================================
Step 2: Before we allow you to make transactions with a credit card through our site, we need to verify your identity via any of the following options:

Option 1: Submit clear and readable copies of the following documents to us:

(i) the front and back of the credit card; AND
(ii) recent credit card statement signed by the credit card owner (purchase or ATM advice slips cannot be accepted);AND
(iii) valid official identification document with picture (such as ID card, passport or driver's license).

Via email: Send a scan copy to service@moneybookers.com (JPEG or GIF file formats only with a maximum size of 364KB per page)

Via fax:
UK: 0709-2042001
USA: 509-271-5556
Germany: 030-6908-8436
Netherlands: 020-524-8418
France: 01-5301-0809
International: +1-509-271-5556 or +44-709-2042001

Please note:
- You need to write your registered Moneybookers email address on top of the fax or in the email message.
- Use the highest resolution available on your fax machine (recommended resolution supported by most machines: 'Photo').
- The verification procedure should be completed within 48 hours after having sent us the above described proof of identity."

After that you can send money to other people.

The fees to send money is 1% but not more than 0.50 euros. But this is for a transfer in "euro -> euro". If a change is necessary :

"We believe in fair exchange rates. We use the daily reference rates as published by the European Central Bank. However, we apply in either direction a spread of 0.4% - this is not a hidden charge but a protection against the volatility and risk associated with FX markets. Our rates compare very favourably to those charged by banks and are superior to those of most money transmitters. "

When you receive money => No fees
To receive money you must have a Moneybookers account.

Voila voila.

Not so simple than Paypal !! But safety.

I hope this answer to your questions about Moneybookers. :)
If you want more informations about them, say me.

For VampVixen :

You know i am PO since 8 days. So, for the moment i have not a lot of experience. But i am very happy to learn !! Day after day !! :D

Have a great day

Allan

There's a lot of info on why not to use paypal on paypalsucks.com
I like paypal, but I guess I would change my mind very fast if
they try to freeze my account..

(ii) recent credit card statement signed by the credit card owner

I only have a debit card.. :(

VamPvixen
03-28-2004, 07:01 AM
So do I
however mine is a VISA debit card so often it is accepted like a credit card.

Thanks for the info Allen :)

I might look into them as I just had a thought! Maybe I could use my paypal to pay things with and use moneybookers to recieve my payments with instead. hmmmmm I must look into that.

Antinomy you mentioned about having funds changed to the right curency. This is a valid point as sometimes the fees can make the money you recieved not worth it.
I dont know anything about broker services as not had to use one yet..it may be a good idea to get info on them.

I like Stormpay because I have sent them money order and cash thru snail mail
to fund my account and had no problem so far, it's pretty easy to fund my account
but sometimes it's hard to get money out, but eventually you get it.

As for e-gold, I have heard so many stories from ptre owners and members that
their account got hacked. Maybe they have security issues.

Have a profitable day.

You may want to keep your eyes and ears open with StormPay. There are changes coming shortly ref below:

On May 1, 2004, StormPay's fee structure will Change.

We believe the new fee structure will mean increased sales and decreased chargebacks. Most chargebacks are a result of the purchaser not fully understanding the 9.9% added fee to their transaction.

Vendors- Please take the next two weeks to adjust your "Buy Buttons" prices to cover the new fee structure. We understand the inconvenience of having to adjust your pricing, but are sure you will reap the benefit of the new fee structure in a very short time.

New Fees (Effective May 1, 2004)

Receiving Payments (Fee Structures are based on tier levels as defined below)
Tier 1 = < 2% chargeback ratio (6.9% plus 69 cents per transaction)
Tier 2 = 2.01 to 4% chargeback ratio (8.9% plus 69 cents per transaction)
Tier 3 = 4.01 to 6% chargeback ratio (9.9% plus 69 cents per transaction)
Tier 4 = 6.01 to 10% chargeback ratio (11.9% plus 69 cents per transaction)

Withdraw Funds:
Check (Cheque) by mail: FREE
Direct Deposit to your bank account (US Customers): FREE
Bank Wire Transfer: (US and International) $20

Safe and Secure Purchasing:
E-Check: FREE
Credit Card: FREE
Money Order: FREE
Bank Wire: $15
--------------------------------------

I have StormPay and PayPal links on one of my sites. I have much smoother
transactions with PayPal. On my site the customer pays me and then the payment processer is supposed to forward them to another link for a set-up fee before
they can download their product. 100% of the time StormPay will leave the customer stranded. The only thing that the customer can do is contact me for the necessary link, which I email to them. This in it's self is no big problem unless I happen to be away from my system. It can be very upsetting for the customer though. Fortunately most people are using PayPal which has only dropped the link once in all most 100 transactions. I have only had about 12 transaction through StormPay and they have failed the customer every time.

This can be a major customer service problem, I pride myself in taking care of my customers quickly, but it is impossible to be in front of the computer 24/7. So this means I have to stay available 7 days a week for my customers protection.

Notice how much of an increase for the seller through StormPay, they are pricing themselves out of the market. I know that I will be dropping their service here in the next week. They have given the buyers some relief yes, but they are killing the seller with these excessive fee's, especially with such poor service.

D.K.

Personally, I prefer IntGold - which hasn't had mention yet!

They have international ATM cards, which is an interesting option.

I also like Moneybookers, but dislike immensely Stormpay especially with its current fees!

I've heard a rumour that most e-currencies are going to follow suite, and I really hope that this is just a rumour!

Stormpay now charge $0.69 + 6.9% per transaction.

i.e. a transfer of $1 = $0.76 for Stormpay and $0.24 for the recipient.

Charges on systems such as IntGold, Moneybookers etc. are a lot less.

no probs :)

I thought it was quite important information

and, it really did my head in recently when I was trying to buy a $10 EPC for YMMSS. I wanted to pay with stormpay, and I needed about $0.40. So a friend of mine sent me $1, but it was nowhere near enough after the charges!
He then sent me another $1, giving me $10.03.

I logged on to ymmss to make my purchase, and I saw that they too have had enough of the stormpay charges and you now need $11 something to make the purchase, so I had to ask my friend to make yet another transfer! It was such a pain in the neck, that between us we ended up losing loads of money for needless transfers.

I just found it a bit much.

I will only be using IntGold in future :)

I guess intgold will be my second pick, since paypal
don't accept MLM biz.
I don't like that we have to go through a trader to get gold,
but the debit card that intgold has seems nice.

Paypal is good for Ebay etc, but they aren't MLM friendly.
MLM = multilevel marketing. For some reason paypal wont
allow MLM businesses to use them for payments.

They must not want other people to make easy money, only themselves?!

So I shouldn't have any problems accepting payments from PTR/C site, right (if I ever get that far anyway)?

Lene..unfortunately I too have heard paypal hates MLM
once they get wind of a programe that pays over a few levels deep they clasify that as MLM and will freeze your acount.

Correct you are Vamp! I was one of PP biggestfans until recently.I was a member of an online poker club that I started @ 2 years ago. We never played for money until recently, just nickel and dime stuff, and I had a bad losing streak last week. I paid the guys a total of $1.30 but there were 4 of them all through a buddy group/forum type address. PP froze my account instantly after paying the 4th guy. I sent them an email but it took two days before they would unfreeze it. Now I have even bigger problems with them but that is another thread! I now prefer e-gold as they have implemented alot of new security features. :D

Yes what I read was that if it is 4 levels deep or over they consider it MLM.
In some countries MLM is considered Pyrimad schemes (like here in Australia) and therefore illegal.
My guess is..as paypal is international they do not want to take the chance on condoning an illegal programe due to the diferent laws in diferent countries. They therefore act on "the safe side".

I've seen lots of scare stories about quite a few of the payment mechanisms.

I think it's important to do what you can to protect yourself:

1. Never leave "cash" you can't afford to lose in your account.
2. Don't set up a direct link to empty your bank account to "pay" for things on line. (item by item verification is preferred).
3. Don't use the same ID OR PASSWORD across different accounts.

Any other good principles for protecting your accounts?

VamPvixen
07-22-2004, 01:27 PM
I think you pretty much covered it Antinomy but I will mention one other.

Dont go to the site via a link in a email, type it manually in instead :)

And yes, diferent passwords for each is a must but also change them frequently.

WORKS FOR THE MAJORITY.
