 <_<
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but the email-attachment viruses seem to have gone suspiciously quiet.
I was receiving around 10 a day for ages (none of which were opened) but I haven't received any for about a week now.

They're planning something!!!!!

I must be one of the lucky ones because I don't receive them at all. I used to get them but I haven't for such a long time now and I hope I don't get them again.

I think a lot of the time they will back off sending the virus's out figuring people will forget or let their guard down.

I have not received near as many lately, but the one's that do come in are very well disguised. You must always stay on the alert.

The best thing we can do is to keep one another posted on what's going on.

 :( I need help, friends.

I´ve been receiving those e-mail with attachments, and my computer got infected, it´s a worm and I am receiving each day a duplicate of each message, or even 3 or 4, I have checked up with norton and macaffee but they don´t find any virus, do you know anything to clean-up this, please? just now Í´ve got 600 messages in my inbox and the most of them are read, some of them I don´t know because it doesn´t work well the system of resalting the link in other color and it happens whenever it wants,

help me, please, I´m going mad

That sound terrible!

Do you know the name of the worm?

well I just recieved 8 today and 17 last night and yesterday combined!
so the email ones are back in force!

calixta :( :( thats horrible
first thing do not use paypal or e-gold or do any internet banking till the mes is fixed
get AVG here: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php
download it (it is free) and run it as well as update your nortons and run nortons in SAFE mode. To do this reboot the puter and before it starts windows hold down the F8 key. then chose safe mode. Run nortons.
reboot back to normal mode and run AVG
if both these programes fail to find and get rid of it try these online scans:

I HIGLY recomend this one as it will find the following most comon worms out now
acording to them these are:
1. WORM_NETSKY.P
2. WORM_NETSKY.D
3. WORM_MOFEI.B
4. PE_VALLA.A
5. WORM_NETSKY.Q
its a complete virus scanner done online
go here:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

another one (i have not used yet..but if all the above fails give it a go)
http://www.encompasscreations.com/

In total that is 4 diferent virus scans including your nortons (throw Macfee out LOL)
at least one of these should find and eliminate it if it is a virus/worm

If this fails can you possiblely find the name of it and post it here as it would greatly help in finding the cure.

I also forgot to mention make sure your nortons and avg are set to intergrate with your pop 3 client so that it finds them as they arrive to your inbox and you can then quaranteen or delete them, this will then mean you will have the emails there but without the attatchments so they are harmless.

There may be many duplicates of them as whoever is sending them is constantly re-sending.

All of the above is based on me assuming that it is an email worm and you are still able to use the puter.

Hope that helps..if not...
If you can get the name of it I can look it up and see if there are other things that may need to be done manually like edditing the values it may have added to your registry.

Good luck!

thanks for answer soon

For today, it´s going right, just about 15 messages duplicates, the name of the worm I think is netsky, but the funny thing is that norton deleted this virus, I opened an e-mail with attachments, because I didn´t know that it could be a virus, I don´t know if it´s going to be a solution or if I´m going to have to change my email address, because I think the virus is deleted, but I´m not sure. The rest of the days I deleted these messages. I do have norton integrated with my pop3 client, but it doesn´t deleted these messages.

well, I´m going to try ;)

I read somewhere here recently that one of the new virus's is not detectable by any of the anti=virus systems. That was a couple of weeks back I think. I will see if I can find it again and maybe they had found a way to detect them now, I hope.

To be on the safest side do not open any attachments, even from people you know, unless they have contacted you right before they sent it. Then make sure that they have taken the necessary precautions to prevent infection.

Personally I no longer open any attachments from any one, even someone I know.
It is a hassle I know, but if they have something that I need I tell them to send it snail mail. Better safe than sorry. :)

I was unable to find the article I was referring too. Maybe it is no longer valid, at least I hope they solved the problem. It is really bad news when our protection systems are ineffective. :(

Everyone just remember to keep your guard up. By communicating these things with one another maybe we can keep the disasters to a minimum. :)

This is why Downline4All is the best, cause it's People Helping People.

:) GOOD NEWS!!!!

I made a scan and two virus was deleted which macafee couldn´t detect. yes, macaffee is not worth.

I haven´t got Norton yet because my subscription is finished. So I´m going to try with AVG.

Macaffee also couldn´t deleted virus detected as "unsafe script" and they are in a file named quarantine. I hope they don´´t give me any problem.

I don´t know the name of the virus eliminated, and if it´s a virus problem or an stuck email problem, but for the moment none message is duplicated, so I´m back in business again. :D

As to your nortons subscription, I dont know what one you have but if it is an earlier year you can uninstall it and re install it and get another yr free of updates ;)

Just received this email today, I have removed everything other than the alert.

In the last few days, a number of new viruses have been
spreading across the Internet. And some of these recent
viruses are using a "trick" of embedding the virus in a
password protected Zip file attached to the message. These
password protected (I.E., encrypted) Zip files cannot be
scanned for viruses by the virus scanner on your mail server.
There is no way for the virus scanner to decrypt these files,
so they are not scanned! Even if you are using an Email Virus
Scanning service, these viruses will not be caught; they will
be delivered intact.

We will never, EVER send you an email with ANY kind of
attachment. And we recommend that you *do not open*
attachments, unless they are from someone they know and trust,
and they are expected! A good "rule of thumb" is "if you
aren't completely sure, don't open it!".

One of these more recent viruses is also forging the From
Address to make the message appear more legitimate (E.G., it
may use 'staff@example.com' where example.com is replaced with
your domain name). Forging the From Address is not unusual,
but this method is apparently an added attempt to fool the
recipient into opening the message.

As you can see the virus's are still out there, waiting for us to drop our guard.
So stay alert and be careful out there!
