I read a while ago that Flash players slow down your machine. <_<

I didn't realise just HOW much slower until I reformatted my system last week and didn't bother reinstalling it. :o

It was in an internet magazine, but I didn't take much notice of it at the time.

I don't know if Flash tracks the sites that you visit, but I guess that it could slow things down by doing that.

So just by having it installed and never using it,
it slows down the computer?

Never offered that a thought.. I thought a big and well known
company like Micromedia would do better than that :rolleyes:

Applications like that use system resources in the background that you are not often aware of
Real player does the same thing.

Some aplications especially those that have update features will run at start up in the background. If you check your registry you can see what ones do this and stop them if you want. Then you can just update them manually when you want to rather then have them running all the time to do auto updates.

word of warning: Do NOT edit your registry unless you know what you are doing.

Flash files are pleasing to the eyes. But they are not resource friendly. Worse, they are not search engine friendly. Personally, I think Flash files are just fine if they are optimized for use in your website.

I will try to uninstall my flash players and reformat my pc, see any improvement of the speed. Sometime I feel my P4 is slower than my old P3 pc, so bad, don't force me to use back the P3 again :(

You can still benefit from your P3. Don't just overload your PC with unncessary programs which can eat up your PC's resources. And do regular preventive maintenance program to extend its life.
