E-gold Fees

I get a lot of PMs - and I have to delete them as my inbox gets full.. Here's one that I'm sure everyone would be interested in at one moment or another.. it's been edited slightly to remove personal details, but the gist is the same.

What fees do I have to pay when using e-gold?

Just wondering if I should request payout in e-gold or
paypal.. I'm going to buy something for them.
it's cheaper with EG, but if fees are too high it's not worth
it..

The answer is it depends:

A Paypal personal account doesn't have fees, but if you get paid by credit card, you have to upgrade and then there are transaction costs of 3% +.

EGold charge transaction fees on a sliding scale. They also charge a monthly deposit holdin on average daily amount of gold you've had.

As long as the discount is big enough (say $1 for the size of transaction we are talking about) - egold is the better paying option.

In PTR progs when thay pay u with EG fee= ~7-15%
when u pay from your EG acct. to other ~1.8-2.5%

I think I'm just going to stick with paypal and not worry about the fees :)

I just clicked an e-gold payment button:

Pay $11.45 with E-Gold. $1.50 processing fee added!
And when I get to the payment screen it says 16.44 $

You have to pay that much fees with e-gold? :o

Is it possible to delete e-gold accounts? I think I will never need it :lol:
