VamP - if you do get in, check the moderator forum.
BTW, I put in a thread in the general computer problem area as I'm sure anyone new to GPTR will want to do what they can..

If it happens to you, I hope you'll contribute what you've done about it!

Not good at all :(
VamP found a password stealer on here computer and that is what happened....I was there when she found the AYS problem....now it seems like a lot more as well.
That is going to be so hard to have to wipe the computer and hope it doesn't get in again.
How it got past the firewall and everything else I have no idea.
I hate when something like that happens.

Oh my god :o
I think i will make diffrent passwords to my PTR programs!

Hi I am Back!!!!! YAYAYAY!
My god I have missed this place and all your wonderful members!!
I did not format, I manged to replace explorer.exe from another computer and I have changed to Mozillia as a browser as I dont trust any thing IE anymore.. I am also using its email client as I dont trust outlook anymore.I have started from the start again with my emails *sigh* so I have lost alot in earnings I could of had with all the missed emails.
Well in all 9 acounts were hacked and out of that I lost 5
considering I am in over 100 thats is not a bad ratio really...it could of been alot worse.
The hacker failed to change my email addy in them so I was able to retrieve the password he put in and access them and change my details back. Incidently all the sites he hacked that I was able to do this , he had put in the same password..a very very long series of random numbers.
As to five of the accounts he got back in and deleted them before I got in so I was unable to save them.
I am just ever so thankfull that I found the problem on AYS first and saved that before he deleted it aswell as they are in the process of sending me a cheque for $100.00. I would of been devistated if I lost all those earnings.
The ones I did lose all had under $10 in them so at least I can be thankful they were not sites I had requested payout on.
Overall the nitemare is over for now *fingers crossed* and hopefully nothing will get thru my security like that again.
How it hapened in the first place I cant be sure but I suspect it was when other members of the household were on the LAN and had trouble getting online due to my firewall and security settings and disabled it to get online, I do remeber this the night before I found the trojan so it seems like it was the only time it would of had a chance to get in, incidently the firewall was only disabled for 5 mins!! no longer!!
It probabably got in thru a P2P conection which is something I normally block :o
I allow the other computers on my LAN to download but I block outside users uploading and conecting to us. When the firewall was down they would of been able to conect automatically thru the P2P programe.
There really is no other explanation as there is no way anything can get in without my permission unless the firewall is not up.
one lesson I have learnt is no mater how much security you have installed it is NOT fullproof unless the user is absolutely villigant in keeping it up.
At least i got a few days holiday to :0 My parents visited me from interstate to see my daughter perform in her concert for the National Australian Childrens Choir and they stayed with me for 4 days...so I had alot of time with them instead of on my computer LOL
Anyway its great to be back and of service again so if anyone needs me I am here and able :)
Great to have you back
Incidently all the sites he hacked that I was able to do this , he had put in the same password..a very very long series of random numbers.
He probaby used a normal password. I would assume the CC
script is using some encryption algorithm for the passwords..
Anyway, it doesn't really matter.. lol
I hope you didn't loose any of your favourites :o
And why on earth would the hacker delete the accounts?
What an idiot
And by the way.. fortnox just closed, but you would have
had the option to move to juliemail.us with some of your earnings
I think. Maybe you can e-mail her and beg to have your money there.. lol

The particular trojen I had corupted my explore.exe so even thou subsequent scans showed that the trojan was deleted and my PC came up squeaky clean. this was NOT the case....it was too late as all the anti-virus software does is delete it but it can not revert the changes made.
Yes all the passwords were the same....5769c2829971**** (removed a few characters but you get the idea)
One of the acounts was black-emails! :o
I saved that one thank god!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is my bigest downline thanks to Scoville :)
I am guessing he deleted them as there was not enough money in them.
AYS and Black-emails I got to first before the deletions hapened so no doubt if he had of got back to them before me he would of changed the details to steakl the acount as they are worth something.
As to fort-knox i was very disapointed..I was not a payout as I spend my money on there with Jayne for advertising..it was one of my favourites for that :( and I was planing on moving over at the closure :(

VamP,
Glad to hear that you're back on-line and even more secure than before.
Let me know how you get on with Mozilla - I used to use it back in the early days but then lost the program when I moved machines....
I do appreciate how "holely" the IE system is - however, if MS plugged all of them, they have an even bigger anti-trust suit!
For the reasons you mentioned, I've taken off my instant messenger service as I don't trust it... I'm looking for a good one that has got the same security protocols.
I'll catch up when you've had a chance to get through the thousands of ads that are in your in-box.... read and click, read and click that's the way the money ticks - maybe your daughter could make up a tune to keep you smiling all day/night while you get on!
I got a link from a nice member to a plugin for mozilla.
Check out the computer corner for that link :D

yeah i saw that before I left :) as I was thinking of changing browsers
I found that I dont need the plug in
just middle click on the link and it opens a new tab :)
Antinomy....it rocks! get it! better then myie2
got to get used to it of course..but its fast! and secure
Wut?
Did you mean to say right click and choose open in new tab?
pug240

No....She does mean Middle Click.....Middle wheel....you just have to press it....if you have one.....don't tell me you have just a 2 button mouse :P
VamPvixen
07-05-2004, 03:31 AM
yes you just use the wheel to click on the link instead of clicking with the normal button and the link will open in a new tab.
Now at least I am getting more excersie, 2 fingers working instead of 1 LOL :D
I have no mouse, but I do have 3 buttons on my touchpad.
Sometimes I can be so stupid, I just didn't get what she was
saying
I have never used the middle button before .. maybe I should
test it in mozilla to see if it's actually working.

In Mozilla go to Edit, then Preferences
go to tabbed browsing under "navigator"
Under "Open tabs instead of windows for:"
click in the box "Middle-click, Ctrl+click, or Ctrl+Enter on links in a web page
click in the box for "Ctrl+Enter in the location bar"
This will enable the middle button :) It will also work when clciking on links in emails too (I am using the email cliet that comes with Mozillia)
Ok, if I have to change settings to get it working I don't care
to do it.. I think it's much better with that addon since I don't
have an ordinary mouse.. If I had a scroll mouse I would
always have a finger on it, but with this touchpad I think
the plugin is much better.
