Setup a referral system for the forum here?

I was thinking, after doing some promoting elsewhere for Downline4All, it would be nice if users could get credit somehow for referring new users that sign up here in the forum. I was a member of a "Free Hosting" forum that was an Invision Power Board and they had a mod installed so you could use a referral link and if anyone signed up under your referral link you got credit for it.

Now, I'm not suggesting this because I want something in return for advertising for Downline4All (the advertising I am doing is free anyway, and more members will help us all). It would be one more reason for people to market for Downline4All and one more way Downline4All could increase their member base. What Downline4All would give in return for top referrers is totally up to them. If you don't want to give away anything of value, maybe give levels of referrers special titles. Like if you refer 10 people your title will be changed to "Community Supporter", and so on and so forth like that.

Anyway, it is just a thought, more than anything. If it doesn't sound like a good idea, it certainly won't hurt my feelings. ;)

Thanks for your feedback.

I was looking for the point system a while ago, but right around the time
ibplanet.com moved and I didn't find the download (I'm sure I can find it
somewhere else, just need to do a search for it.)

We've been thinking about having some kind of referral contest, but
it will easily attract cheaters, so we haven't made up our minds about that.

Either way, the point system with referral mod. will be installed soon.
We've had thoughts about making a special forum with some resources
and stuff that aren't avaliable for everyone, and this mod can restrict
access to for instance only members with over 200 posts.

We'll get back with closer details at a later point. :)

Hi Jim!

It is really great that you and the other members care enough to add your feed- back. It is much appreciated and all ideas are considered.

Somethings will have to wait for a while but many new things will be happening in the future. :)

Stay with us, contribute to the forum when you can and most of all work on building those friendships and building your downlines. :lol:

It is our goal to be different from any other forum out there, it just takes time and patience to get there. :)

Our members working together is what will make all this happen. :) B) :lol:

If you can find a mod that tells you who referred who (I'm not sure if this forum has one), then you can maybe require that a person can't get points for it until the person they referred makes a certain amount of posts. I mean, you don't want people joining if they won't ever show up ;)

There is a mod, I just have to find it :D
It's also possible to add it as a custom field in the
admin panel, but not quite sure how it works, so I'll
be going for the mod option.
