F-secure , very easy to use, but I guess a lot of others
are as well.. so I don't know why I like it so much.
I would never exchange it for Norton though..

Norton for me! I have extensive experience with both McAfee and Norton, and based on that experience I prefer Norton. I even implemented Norton's (Symantec now) corporate solution at work, and it works great. Just my opinion.

I had my system protected with Norton's Security Professional. I really liked it.
I had not had a problem till a couple of months ago when I had the first virus attack that got through. That attack totally destroyed my security system some how, we don't yet know how it happened. I had all controls set to where I had to give permission for anything to access. I was very happy with the set-up. I managed to get past all of the out breaks last year with no problems.

Since that episode though I have being using the free AVG and other systems to protect my pc.

I can not fault Norton's, but at present I am not using them. I went almost 14 months with no problem, them bang it happened.

As noted by the others here, you must use various tools to protect your pc and be very vigilant. The people who create these virus's apparently really enjoy messing things up for other people. So be fore-warned stay on your toes at all times and run the various programs mentioned to protect yourself and may be you can avoid a big disaster. Believe us when we say it is serious and it is definately no fun when it happens to you.

I have to say AVG.
My reasons:

I like Avast and think it may even be better, but in all fairness Id have to use it longer then 2mths to coment.

I used Nortons for over 4 years with No other programe and I never had a virus to my knowledge, only the odd one that nortons would find in an email and kill it. I was very happy with it untill i started testing others.I have now come to the conclusion that all that time I thought my computer was clean as Nortons told me it was however it was not so.
Upon using other programes over the last 2 yrs alot of virus were found in my computer by AVG yet Nortons said I was clean.
I still run Nortons, especially after AVG finds something and it still never finds the same ones.
I have often experimented with online scans to verify that AVG was corect (Trend micro has a good one) and they all show up the virus where Nortons says no virus found.

(Incendently it was AVG and Avast that found my recent password stealer that caused my accounts to be hacked, Nortons came up clean on a full scan even in safe mode)
My conclusion is I spent years thinking I was safe as it told me I was, now I wont trust it.
For now AVG gets my vote, its reliable and easy to use, has an email plugin and updates often and its free.
I am still testing Avast so I will coment on it after further extensive use.

update to my reply on this poll
A friend of mine was having a problem with the worm Netsky-Q.....they had it on there system and was using AVG. AVG could find it but couldn't get rid of it.....they tried Norton's and that didn't find it at all. I said we should try Avast on the system and see what happens. Avast found it and removed it so after this I think Avast is better.....I have been using both Avast and AVG and find both very good....I don't think I would ever put Nortons on my system....not if it can't find anything....especially something that they know about and should be in the definitions.

Just my opinion!!!!

I used Norton but it stopped working after I reinstalled my Windows XP. Now I use Kaspersky Antivirus.

Plus other programs (firewalls, spyware scanners, etc...)

Now that I have used Avast for a longer time I felt I should update my opinion as i said i would:
Its great! Its email scanner is compatable with Mozillia so thats a bonus for me as I refuse to use any email client or web browser that is MS based.
Its on access-protection works well and it is able to not only find things but removed them effectivaly aswell :)
I still use AVG aswell for scanning as its brilliant and I use Avast for continued protection running in the background.

Rasmus: I have heard of Kaspersky Antivirus but have had no personal experience with it.
Is it free? and what features does it have?

I don't know if Norton is the absolute best one,
but personally I prefer Norton AntiVirus. Easy
to use and the company that owns it has a lot
of resources so i'm pretty sure they can keep
up with the viruses better then many of the
smaller ones.

I've read from some computer magazines that according to some tests Kaspersky is the best antivirus software (it releases most virus definition updates - I checked, the last one was just 2 hours ago).

It has real-time protection so it scans all traffic that is coming in and going out.

Kaspersky has a 30 days trial version, later you can buy it online for about $40 (can be cheaper if bought from store).

I've used Kaspersky for months now and am really happy with it so far. :)
