I don't think there's any free hosting without ads of this kind.
Though I have heard in the past you can get the mysql database
from one place and free hosting without ads somewhere else..

You could try invisionboard instead.. http://www.ipbfree.com

Or pay for hosting.. It's not that expensive.. at least not
if you don't use a lot of bandwith.
Here's just some of the many that offers hosting for a very fair
price:
http://www.velcom.com/
http://www.webgemshosting.com/

I have my personal hosting for only a little above 1$ a month, but
they don't have english website..
Of course it depends on how many members you are expecting to have
in this forum and how much you promote it.

What payment method does your host accept?

At the moment I have 2 different hosts
The 1$ one is only in scandinavian language and only payment
directly from the bank account  and the 4.25$ plan from
webgemshosting. They accept paypal, moneybookers and visa.
If you do a search or two on google I'm sure you can find a pretty
good deal :D

For the foum we have better hosting, though we have much more than
we use :D

If you just want a forum, check out http://www.forumer.com. Free IPB with no banners or popups. The only problem is I don't think you can change the skin?

I know of a nice hosting company that offer ad free hosting with mysql and php support, for free. You have to have 50 GOOD posts in there forum though, and then you can request hosting. I have hosting through them, and it is awesome, especially for free! Check out http://www.2webh.com if you are interested.

Nice deal.. I just saw another site like that earlier..
but how can they offer it for free? 50 posts is not like a lot
of posts.. How much bandwith and storage do you get?

I know, sounds to good to be true, but it isn't. I have been with them for a long time now. Many sites like that do close down after a while, but this one is strong!

You get 300MB of storage and 10G of bandwidth per month. Personally I don't come close to the bandwidth because my site is a personal site mainly. I have done a lot of testing on it though, like installing various php galleries and forums, changing code, etc. 5 MySql DB's too, they are just great!

That's a great deal.
Especially if they have good uptime.
This would be enough bandwith for most people.
But are you sure there's no ads or no redirecting of traffic?
Maybe they are hoping to attract people that needs bigger
packages, by giving them a free start.

Actually we use only 3-4 gigs for our sites at the moment,
but we are building for the future, so we have a lot more than
we use at this point (-good-)

I have never seen ads on my site, check it out at http://jim.2webh.com. Check out my gallery, it runs pretty quick for free hosting!

They do have ads on there forum where you have to have 50 QUALITY posts (not just spam), and they do offer paid hosting packages, so I am assuming between the 2 they must make enough $$ to be able to offer the free hosting.

I think they are great, what they offer for just 50 good posts is amazing. I have seen many other sites like 2webh, but most fold after a while, 2webh is the only one I trust to stay alive, since they have been up for a long time now.

I agree, this is a really good deal for anyone who want to
have a free website.

And 50 good posts a month should be easy for anyone
who like forums.

sorry to go off topic but had to add:

Love your gallery jim!
its nicely set out on the thumbnails and even for my slow dial up (on a pair gains line here) the site loads nice and fast.
Scala is too cute!

It has been a long time. Here is an update.

This site http://forums.hostmatrix.org/showthread.php?t=7 offers FREE hosting without ads. The only hitch is that you have to apply using a prescribed format and wait for its approval. There's a long queue of free webspace application so you have to wait for your turn. But per review, this is a reliable FREE webhost.

Goodluck and have fun!
