OBITUARY

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend
by the name of Common Sense, who has been with
us for many years.

No one knows for sure how old he was since his
birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic
red tape.

He will be remembered as having cultivated such
valuable lessons as:
Knowing when to come in out of the rain,
Why the early bird gets the worm,
and that life isn't always fair.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial
policies (don't spend more than you earn) and
reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids,
are in charge).

His health began to rapidly deteriorate when
well intentioned but overbearing regulations
were set in place.

Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with
sexual harassment for kissing a classmate;
teens suspended from school for using
mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for
reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened
his condition.

Common Sense declined even further when
school administration was required to get parental
consent to administer aspirin to a student but
could not inform the parents when a student
became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the
Ten Commandments was listed as contraband;
churches became businesses; and criminals received
better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a
woman failed to realize that eating fast food every
day would make you fat and decided to sue McDonald's.

Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents,
Truth and Trust;
his wife, Discretion;
his daughter, Responsibility;
and his son, Reason.

He is survived by two stepsisters;
Mya Rights and Ima Whiner.

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized
our great loss.

If you knew him once, or still know him, pass this on,
if not, join the majority and do nothing.

I've often thought common sense died around before I was born a hit and run driver called "Gotta Have-More".

Man is the most miraculous animal, yet we seem bent on destruction rather than building. We have the tools we need to solve all the conundrums of modern life - health, famine, poverty, and repression of any ilk.

i so have to coment on that.
Recently on a TV curent Affairs show called Today Tonight it showed a boy who was very obese and his mother blamed McDonalds.She claimed the ads on TV made him want it. She also claimed he HAD to have it so he could collect the toys in the happy meals. He has take away food 4 nights a week. His health is now at stake.

I as a mother was apaulled!! I have 2 kids and it would be so easy for me to buy a burger and not cook, my kids always ask for it..fact is its the parents who feed the kids so JUST SAY NO. its so easy! Why blame the food stores when as a parent say NO.
If he really wants the toy..go in spend $2.00 and buy the toy without the damn burger! Easy!

Did you hear about the 7 stone (7*14 = 98 lbs) 3 year old who literally drowned in their own fat here in the UK? I know women (albeit petite and slim that weigh less).

Looks like the Gotta Have-More virus has found a way of infecting every one at birth and some people's immune system never build up the anti-bodies or resistance they need to protect their health.

Seriously though, many people never think about why they are eating or "need" the toys/things we consume. Most are looking for comfort in the absence of feeling loved. I think most adult's feelings of frustration/envy/being hard done by is transferred to children who believe they are not good enough or don't deserve to live or believe they need to be a certain way for people to like them (doesn't matter if it's a bigger house, car, latest gadget).

If we think about what certain things will give us and chunk up to what we are really looking for, then it's a lot easier to break bad habits.
