How many of you have your own websites?
And if not, would you like to make one?

If you would like to make one, but haven't done so, why didn't you?
To get a basic website online is pretty easy. If you don't know where to start,

Nice site.
It's a nice example of how you can make something with content and try to sell for some affilite programs. Did you make any sales with it or did you just build it and forget about it? :)

If you have support for php on your server you should look into the require and include functions of php. It will save you heaps of time when updating content on your websites.

I have made a few sales and try to update it occasionally, i have a new idea planned for the front-page also so we will see. :)

I will have to look into php more as my server does allow it.

I'm having a small experiment now with a hosting top 10 kind of thing.
Just started building the site.

How did you get traffic to your site? From search engines or paid advertising?
I have learnt a bit about search engine optimization lately, but never put it into practice.. so I thought I should have this little experiment and try to sell something online.

Thanks for the link.
I have heard that we shouldn't submit to search engines.. Then others
again said we should submit to search engines, so it's not easy to know
what to do
I am gonna try to submit to the smaller engines, but let google pick up the site
from links from other sites.

Most of the search engines if not all refer to this mother of all search engines http://www.dmoz.org . According to study, Google extracts its database from this site.

One problem I encountered is that if you register your site with http://www.dmoz.org it takes time before it is posted.

I have something to share or need all of your opinions. Do you think it's worth it if we have to spend few months time to build a site from scratch if we can buy one from the market at around 20 to 50 bucks. I means those turnkey site, most of the sites come with build in scripts and can function very well. You input of this will be much appreciated.

It is usually better to build your own site. Some people prefer the template sites. I have used both and I really think building your own is better.

I can highly recommend the product listed in my signature link, it is very easy to use and very affordable. It also comes with a no hassle money back guarantee. One of the big pluses of this is that you only have to purchase it once and you can use it to make as many sites as you need.

I hope this helps. :)

It depends. If an existing template can address your needs and the price is more reasonable compared to the cost of creating your own, then go for it.

However if you would like to exercise your creativity and learn the nitty gritty of website development, creating your own is probably the most rewarding experience that you can imagine. One advantage of creating your own is that you have all the flexibility to align your site in terms of look, content, etc.

I have a website. I did not design it though. It's relatively simple and basic because I actually exchanged some services with someone to help me with my site. I'm not to good at web design. I do not know much and it's not one of my specialities.

If I could design then I would have many ideas for a pretty good site. I would like my site to have a iittle more excitement to it.

i did a little change to ur text. Perharps u like to limit the number of font-colour and use font size/ weight/ etc, to categorize and so on. Hope this helps a little. ")

designing ur own site is more effective coz u can customize it to ur own needs. Templates save time, but as u go along, u might edit some changes (graphics, insert newsletter function, etc) and that can be considered as ur site too. But if ur going for templates, mayb u like to consider css over table structure.
