I'd be interested in the rough bid amounts as always looking for new ones to promote. Im trying out a few new ones also some successful some not. Though my favourites are still Vejaseek and DynamiteSearch.

I have also recently started trying out search engines for fun. But as I don't have my own website (not good with computers, and don't really have the time to set one up), I have only signed up with a couple of search engines which does not need me to host their portal pages. The bid rates on these SEs aren't all that good:

Compact Search
70% Of The Bidded Value
5% Of Your Referral Earnings
Low Fast $2.00 Payout
Payment Sent Within 48 Hours!

Boeze
Bidded Value (don't know, can't seem to find it anywhere :blush1:)
10% Of Your Referral Earnings
Low Fast $3.00 Payout
Payment Sent Within 48 Hours!

I have read somewhere that if the SE you are promoting is also promoted by many other people, then actual valid hits may be very low, thus bid amounts may not be so important. What is more important is finding a group of people who are willing to do searches but does not do a huge amount of searches daily (ie do not promote in Hauling Cash). Don't know if this statement is true though.

Like Lene, I am also testing out these SEs at sites with cheap advertisements (definitely not at SCAM or unsustainable sites). Lene, would you mind if I post some of the results in your blog? Or maybe post it elsewhere on this forum as info for others? :)

Lene

I would think the results with haulingcash is good, because the members
are getting paid, and they know they are getting paid.
Though I didn't try to send ads there, so maybe I should :)

None of my ads got sent yet

What is your average with Boeze? I want to join a search engine that pays fast,
because at the moment I don't have a lot of money to buy ads for, and then it's a long time to wait for the NET15 payout.

Sure, it would be nice with some stats. It could help other people to know what results they can expect, so they don't have to waste money finding it out for themselves :)

rustyclaymore
10-19-2004, 03:03 PM
I have only just joined Boeze a week ago and have only run an ad so far. My results 55 valids / 391 clicks. The average bid for each valid was about $0.02 to $0.025.

Edited to remove excessive babbling... :)

Lene

Did you check what countries the search engine accept searches from?
I know some engines only take searches from US and Canada..
And in general, some advertisers pay only for US and Canada traffic,
so I have been thinking about contacting site owners and ask for a price
for ads targeted only to US and Canadian members.

rustyclaymore
10-19-2004, 03:45 PM
Boeze has stated this in their TOS that they accept traffic from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States.

Any clicks coming from any other country will not be credited and blocked from our engine.

I read that Boeze seems to be quite a popular SE, and typically pays out within 24 hours rather than the 48 hours advertised on its home page. That's why I decided to give it a try... :)

I am only now promoting sites that will give me a minimum amount per bid as any lower makes it difficult to make any profit though my main 3 i am currently promoting are all paying a nice amount more. I also joined Tapirsearch and they will pay only for clicks from USA, Canada, Australia and UK but this has meant the bid amount has increased a great deal and i am making nice profits.

I signed up for Compactsearch also but wont continue there as i am finding the bid amount very low.

Bettybucks has another search called hyperjinx which i think has just recently been launched.

My Current List of Promoted Sites

Vejaseek
Dynamitesearch
Tapirsearch
WeHuntItDown
Pirate-Search
Whompysearch
Compactsearch (Won't promote anymore when current ads finish and cash out)

fanfwar,

Guess you are right, making just about 2.5 cents per bid is tough to turn a profit. Anyway, I have also only just signed up at CompactSearch and have run a couple of mini ads (won those ads in a couple of PTRs so will definitely be all profit). So far my average for CompactSearch is 2.4 cents per bid. Doesn't seem to be that much different from Boeze.

I have looked at your list of SEs, but most seem to require affiliates to have their own websites, so don't think I can use those... :(

For DynamiteSearch, it looks as if they are starting to ban PTR sites for promoting their engine though...

I have a question though, for those engines which gives high bid values, does their valid clicks seem to be lower? Read that comment somewhere and just wanted to verify.

AND sorry Lene, seem to be hijacking your blog! :blush1:

Maybe I should move our discussion elsewhere... :)

fanfwar: What is your average bid with pirate-search?
I used to promote it and have 1$ in my account, so I'm wondering if it's
worth to promote it and reach payout.

I look for 3+ cent average bids. I also found that it's hard to make a profit with anything less.

rusty: Don't worry, I'm just glad to see some new posts..lol

Thanks Lene! :)

Anyway, do you happen to know whether it is possible for me to track the clicks and valids of search portal pages if I am not hosting it (ie portal page is hosted by the SE itself)? I would like to track the clickthrough rate as well as the valids. I am not too familiar with how to track all these things, so any help in this area would be very much appreciated.. :)

Currently I am only running one ad at a time to test if each PTR site is worth advertising in. And it is really time consuming to just wait for one ad to end before starting on another...

fanfwar
10-19-2004, 07:14 PM
Pirate was another new one for me this month and is averaging about 3 c so far so not sure i will carry it on next month.

Dynamite did ban a few PTR sites and surfing exchanges but most are ok to advertise at.

Lene

Rusty: if you click stats, and then "Click here to view affiliate statistics
(Stats for Webmasters)" you can see daily statistics of valid searches, but the unvalid searches you can't see. There are ways to get more detailed stats if you host it yourself, but then you need to track it with a script.

Fanfwar: Thanks . I am going to get some clicks to my portal to reach payout, and then see if I keep it or not.

Hi Lene,

Has your ad been sent out yet? :)

Anyway, if you want to just test your SE, maybe you can try to send an ad out at ____. It took them just 2 days after I bought my ad for them to send it out. The ad was a cheap ad for 1/4 cent search ad to 300 (cost of $1.01).

It is now end of day 1 for the ad and for me there has been a total of 175 clicks with 37 valids. With 37 valids, if your SE pays an average of $0.028, then you would broken even. With another 125 clicks to go, maybe able to make a small little profit.

But this again is only for fun, not serious money since the site does not seem to have active searchers. I think it may be good for just testing out the average bids of SEs... :)

Lene
10-20-2004, 07:01 PM
Actually none of them has been sent yet.
I know misty had some troubles with their new mailer, and their paid ads got higher
priority than upgraded member ads.. But I bought a cheap ad for 0.50 $ or
something like that on another site that hasn't been sent yet, so I wont
be buying ads there. I'm too unpatient to wait for days. .

I'm definetely going to try to send an ad at discodollars. I'm going to do it now :)
Tnx for sharing :)

Lene
10-20-2004, 08:27 PM
I just checked my paypal.. I sent payment for that ad the 15th, today it's the 20th.
I don't think that's too good service..
Now I just bought one ad at disco-dollars. I only bought to 300 because
they have 1000+ members, so they probably don't have too many search members.

fanfwar

I have always paid with my ads at Misty's with redemption and they usually come out within 2-3 days. 5 days does seem a long time to wait, have you posted anything in there forum about it, though at the moment they will blame on mailer.

Lene
10-21-2004, 01:32 AM
I have had to wait quite a while in the past for upgraded member ads to
be sent at misty.. I then contacted them and asked why my ad wasn't sent yet,
and she replied paid ads go first.. I am not sure what kind of routine they have..
To me it would make more sense to send ads as they come in..
When I buy ads there, they are always sent quite fast.

The other site I bought an ad from is one of the sites you told the name of in that post in the get paid folder.. I can't remember the name of it..
If it still isn't sent this weekend I will contact them and ask why..

rustyclaymore
10-21-2004, 10:01 AM
Lene,

I have just bought another ad at _____ last night and it has already been sent today. Hope your ad has been sent out too... :)

Anyway, does either yourself or fanfwar have any experience promoting Findaholic? Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks! :)

edited to remove name of site... :)

Lene
10-21-2004, 10:16 AM
Actually it was sent really fast.
I think it took 5 hours or something like that.. maybe more,
but I haven't received many clicks to it yet.
Only 16/300
I will check my stats later (-good-)
I'm at school now.. Although I doubt anyone is here is a member and promoting
that site, I don't want to sign in.. Too affraid to get banned..

I haven't heard about lookaholic. I have to admit I've been a bit lazy about digging up information about different search engines

fanfwar
10-21-2004, 03:22 PM
I am a member of Findaholic but havent promoted them this month , last month i was getting between 2-2.5c roughly, which is a shame as i really like their portal, its very clear and neat. At the moment my 2 referral are earning me a bit of income.

I tried them out quite a while ago, but dropped it off my list

Just got paid $57 by Dynamite today :)

rustyclaymore
10-22-2004, 03:15 AM
Wow! That's great!

I'm wondering how long it would take before I can make that kinda money. I've been doing PTR for four months, traffic exchanges for three months and search engines for three weeks, and the total I have been paid from all activities is only about $30! :(

Maybe I need to setup one of those "JOIN ME" websites to promote all my programs to get myself a decent downline. Too bad a bit illiterate in computer matters... :)

Oh well, just keep telling myself baby steps... :D

Lene
10-22-2004, 03:13 PM

It would be good if misty sent my ad soon, as then i would get
more searches fast to give a better estimate of the average.

I'm not having any luck with the SEs I have joined. All of which are only giving me 2 - 2.5 cents bid value... :(

So I have joined up under fanfwar for Vejaseek, which he has recommended. Lene, if W24 continues to give such good bids, cmi for joining under you as well... :)

Lene
10-22-2004, 09:26 PM

Fanfwar: I just noticed tapirsearch in your siggy.
If I remember right that was one I was thinking about joining with a payout
of 1 week. Is it doing good for you?

fanfwar
10-23-2004, 01:03 AM
I joined Tapir on the 11th and so far have $13.83

They only accept traffic from USA, Canada, Australia and UK but its not a problem to me as means the bid is higher.

Thanks for joining Vejaseek under me Rusty i find the bid's are a bit more than at Tapir, and Lene if the bid continues i will join under you also.

fanfwar, just thought I'd let you know the link to your Vejaseek and tapier in your sig took me to a page of html code only :(

I have been watching this thread with great interest. So far I only use berry-search but am thinking of trying a new one. Ill see how you all go and maybe ask for a ref link here and there :)

rustyclaymore

Actually I have been trying to join Tapir for a couple of weeks now, but everytime I try any referral link, there's this big message which says Tapir is not taking any new signups presently... :(

Anyway, Vampixen, I have just started an ad with Vejaseek. I think its the weekend or something, but very little clicks so far.

Result after 1 day is 25 clicks with 24 valids (!). Average bids so far 3.0 to 3.5 cents. Not too bad. Will update with more info when more clicks turns up... :)

Does anyone know where I can host my SE portal pages for free? I am currently using getaportal, and have hosted a couple of SE portal pages. However, when I tried to advertise these pages, I was informed by the WM that my pages are framebreakers and causes problems... :(

So am looking for alternative places to host my pages. Good thing about getaportal is that they allow unlimited bandwidth. Well too bad...

Anyone has any suggestions? Thanks!

rustyclaymore
10-26-2004, 03:38 PM
errr, actually I don't know...

I'm only gonna be using this to promote SEs for the time being. No idea on what I want for my personal home page yet.

I'm also not a heavy promoter, so don't think I need so much bandwidth. But I'm a bit illiterate in this area as well, so don't know how to guage...

How much bandwidth does one SE portal page takes up anyway ifyou expect only about a thousand visitors? I suppose it also depends on whether those visitors does searches or not right? :newconfuse:

My search portals are from 20-40 kb each.
(1000 visitors * 20 kb) = 20 000 kb = 20 mb

I can host your portals for free on my account, as long as the traffic
is below 25000- 50 000 a month, with some disadvantages..
You can't have ftp access (cuz you would be able to access my stuff ;) )

Some search engines have in their TOS that you can't use free hosting, but
unless you use something like geocities there's no way they can know.

Also I should mention, be careful when trusting someone with your traffic. :)

fanfwar
10-27-2004, 01:18 AM
rustyclaymore get 1000 valids a month and you can get Webmaster which is 80% of the bid. Only 33 clicks a day.

When I first started SEs, didn't really think that it was achieveable. But guess it may be possible afterall, since I have already achieved 120 valids in 4 days from just 2 small ads... :)

I'm taking baby steps first, and am testing to see if it is profitable to run ads at some selected sites for Vejaseek. But with my current "framebreaker", some WMs don't want to accept my ad, so I've gotta resolve that issue first... :(

Lene, thanks for the offer. But I wouldn't want to trouble you and eat away at your bandwidth, I'd feel real guilty about that... :)

So will resume my search for a free host whose pages are not framebreakers... ;)

I think search engines in general dont like the bid amounts discussed but sometimes that the only way for us to find out . Its either that or we waste our money on a pointless ad and lose out.
