I know this does not work well for everyone or every type business. However, I have had some success with this marketing method. Not too long ago I wrote an article about using classified ads from some research I did and personal experience and I thought I would share some of this here.

Classified ads can be a good way to market a website, product or service. It can allow for very quick results if someone views your classified ad. It also gives you the abilitiy to target your market. You can advertise under the heading and sections that best meet what you have to offer. So for the most part people who come across your ad are in the market for what you have to offer. This isn't always the case. Of course, it depends on the online classified ad website you are using and how many categories, etc they have. Also many classified ads allow users to search for keywords. So let's say for example you sell shoes and a customer goes to the merhandise category and puts in: shoes, they can find your ad pretty easily. This is just a generic example, but you get the idea.

Remember to update your ad often. As more people ad their own ads, you will get pushed away from the top. These ads usually expire after a set amount of time so you will want ot keep your ads current and active. When writing your ad, think of a headline that is catchy so that viewers read your particular ad.

Remember if you are using an ad to market your business or website, the point of the ad is not to make an instant sale. Instead you are trying to attract people to your website. Hopefully they will then be interested enough to make a purchase or whatever action you are hoping for.

Good points kmpisces. Care to share with us which are the best online classifieds that you have used before? I used to put my ads in free classifieds like Adpost and yahoo, so far so good. I don't mind to spend some money for the ads if the ROI is good.

Thanks for sharing this with the members kmpisces. :)

You are quite right about classified advertising. It can be productive when used properly. As you mentioned keeping your ads updated and refreshed is very important. Track your ads so that you know which ones are pulling in the responses. Sometimes those that are not pulling need just a small change in the title, or maybe a new title all together. The main thing is not to make to big of a change at a time, just some small tweaks and try it again.

You brought out a very important aspect in not trying to make the sale in the ad, but getting the customer to the site and then counting on the site content to get the response you are after. Ya gotta get em there first! :)

Keep up the good work folks, keep sharing and helping one another. Together we can do anything! :)

Well,

Like I said I have had some success with online classified ads (in the past). Right now I do not have any up because I am trying to limit my work. I know sounds crazy but I am having some health problems. But anyway staying on topic here, I will list a couple of classified sites I have used.

http://www.inetgiant.com
http://www.usfreeads.com/
http://www.theadnet.com/
http://www.web-ads.com/101.html ($19 a year for 50 and under words)
http://www.usnetads.com/

The top two are my favorite that seemed to result in the most results.
